Trail Notes: Come Prepared for
your Photo Adventure
There are a few basic things that you'll
need to remember as you prepare for one of our "in-the-field" photo adventures.
First, remember the basics for enjoying the outdoors in a desert environment.
Sunscreen is always a "must" — even in the winter months. I prefer at least
an SPF 40 sunscreen. Second, don't forget the water. Bring at least a liter
to carry with you, and another liter for the drive home. Third, wear "sensible
shoes." Good quality hiking boots are great, although regular old sneakers
will usually do the job just fine too. Dress shoes and sandals should stay
in the closet at home. Lastly, in the spring, summer, and fall, make sure
to wear cool, comfortable clothes. In the winter and early spring, remember
to bring a sweater or jacket too. It gets cool very quickly as sunset approaches.
One of the most frequently asked questions is, "What kind of camera do
I have to own in order to participate?" Most Bokeh Photo adventures are
generally designed for beginning 35mm SLR users. However, everyone can
participate. The basic composition concepts are equally applicable to point-and-shoot
and digital cameras as well.
